When going on a tropical vacation, we tend to stray away from the regular on land activities that we do on an every day basis. There are so many water sport activities for you to take part in, that it's a no brainer that you'd like to try something new. Luckily for us here in Trinidad and Tobago, we don't need to go on vacation to experience water sports, we have everything we need right here.

Some of these water sports are even more intense that your current workout routine. Here are a few that you should consider trying:

Surfing

Many preach that surfing is a total body workout that you definitely can't beat, and it's hard to disagree. Surfing uses your upper body firstly to paddle out, and then you have to use your legs and core to stay balanced and ride the waves. Surfing help with strength, agility and even stamina, promoting a generally healthy lifestyle.

Stand-Up Paddle Boarding

For this water sport, mastering balance and stability is key to becoming a professional. It's excellent for tightening your core- your mid section must stay strong the entire time. This activity can improve cardiovascular endurance and also be a full body workout. The only way to know the muscles you're really working is to try it out yourself!

Swimming

On a hot day, many seem to flock to either the pool or the beach for a much needed cool down. Did you know that swimming is a low impact, full body workout that you really just can't beat? The resistance of the water is perfect for building strength and if you pick up the pace a bit, you'll even get some cardio in.

Windsurfing

For this particular sport, there's one key element that you'd definitely need- wind. Windsurfing is not your typical every day sport, but the physical benefits are exceptional. Trying to keep your balance on the board is perfect for improving core strength, and to be able to direct the sail, you'll need to use your upper body strength. As you improve, windsurfing can even become a great cardiovascular workout, having to balance and direct the sail can really make you work up a sweat.

Scuba Diving

While most divers may agree that scuba diving is more of a leisurely hobby that it is an actual sport, when done correctly it can be a bit of both. The equipment alone just to get under the water can weigh up to 50 pounds and powering through a long dive with that weight can be quite strenuous.
